This cover was quite a challenge since this issue came bag with Corel Painter. Over half of the cover will be block, so coming up with something that is eye catching was daunting. Let me know what you think; here is the cover without the advertisement. All painted in Photoshop CS
I hope it came out decent, since I'm not too sure about my writing ability. I guess, I'll have to wait until it hit the book stores here in the States.

I was going through my comic collections and came across some really old comics. It brought back allot of happy memories, of childhood. There just something magical about holding it in your hand. The cheap newsprint and that musty smell.
I thought it would be neat to create a mock-up comic. I always love those old pulp magazines; and wanted to create something old and something new. Sort of my take on it. I didn't follow any guideline, just took some liberty.
Anyway, I started this a while back, right after the "Master & Servant" challenge. I've been working on and off for the past few months. It took me roughly about 60 hours to finished the painting. I had fun designing her jacket and coming up with those silly titles. The painting and all the texts were created in photoshop 7
Let me know what you guys think, comments are welcome.
I usually spend about a week per painting, but this one went fast. Mainly because the drawing is so well done

Little Red

This is my version of Little Red Riding Hood but I took a bit of liberty with it. Initially, I wanted to paint a lush forest after seeing King Kong, but thought it would make the background too busy, thus taking the focus away from her face. I was inspired by Japanese wood block prints and wanted to create something with an Asian theme, sort of East meet West. I was always partial to well designed tattoos, so I've included my version. Instead of the traditional wolf, how about a dragon?

This one took me quite a while, all done in Photoshop CS. Leather texture was used for the gloves and rice paper was applied as an overlay for the background.

This art was also used for a catalog cover:
http://www.creationengine.com/html/catalogs.html
A company that sells softwares to schools, faculty and students.

Thanks for looking,

Eternal Sorrow

Been working on this on and off for a while now. Started out using Tria markers (that was an exercised in frustration) I then took it into Photoshop and after many iterations, I think I got it. Maybe? let me know what you guys think?

Its about lost love or what could have been, or maybe a love that was never meant to be. Anyway, I wrote a cheesey poem and had it translate into simple Kanji. Here's what it meant

Eternal Sorrow
Love awaits on the edge of eternity.
Reaching far; forgotten and long lost.
In the distance, beckoning.
Come away, away...
For there loves await; yearning, yearning...

Actually its allot longer than this, but I couldn't fit it in. For those that need translation (Chinese or Japanese) I recommend my friends, they also sell allot of neat stuff on their site:

This painting took me about a week to do, I've been working on it on and off for a months. I was thinking about the Master and Slave challenge and wanted to create something different. I was always a slave to my past memories; always living in the past. So I set out to create an image that would reflect that and since drawing my portrait was just plain boring, I decided to incorporated some of the things that interest me the most. Girls, WW2 era and tattoos.
Initially I was going to draw a serpent or a dragon for the tattoo, but decided to just create something non distinct. I wanted it to represent various past memories, but it would have to be interesting. Anyway, that how I came about the piece. I'm not sure if I accomplished what I set out to do, but I thought I gave it a shot. Let me know what you guys think. BTW, this was done in Photoshop.
This version is a bit different than the one on the DVD. Some of you might have already seen this on other forums, thought I share it here. I left allot of space at the top and bottom to accomodate the texts.
I was inspired by the World War 1 era and wanted to capture the mood and the sense of lost. I also wanted to bring a fantastical element to the piece, to give it a "what if".
This art was created using Photoshop. Comments and critiques are most welcome. Thanks
